![]() ![]() The recent Micorosft Authentication server issue has brought to light that many people don’t understand how the Xbox DRM and offline capabilities work. ![]() ![]() There definitely are areas that could be clearer for consumers (Smart Delivery Discs for example) and areas that need improvement, but don't let the verbosity lead you to make an assumption up front. I have reformatted the post with the answers now embedded in spoiler tags and added numbers to the primary questions/statements, this should hopefully help with readability and addressing specific sections. That means I go over a lot of different scenarios, try to explain a few things along the way and provide steps to reproduce the outcomes so you don't have to trust some random guy on the internet. This post is huge! Microsoft DRM must be terrible, right? Some games *may* require an update after installing to ensure best experience. Since creating this post update 2206 for the Series X|S now allows Xbox One games to be installed and played completely offline with no check-in required. ![]()
